Q.  Does it cost me anything to register my business and a have it discoverable on PolicenSecurity/UGLii Find website?

A.  No, it is free. Naturally there are services that you can buy if you want to, but there is no obligation to buy any service.

Q.  How long will my business be listed for once I register?

A.  Your business listing remains current for as long as you want. There is no expiry date. However, we will remove your business if your ABN is no longer current. We place a high value on providing fresh business information to searchers and we will reward you for refreshing your information regularly by improving your position in the search results.

Q.  What is the process for registration of my business?

A.  First you register the legal entity that is the business. An entity can be a sole trader, a partnership, or a company that has an ABN. Registering your entity information in this way ensures only valid businesses are included in the directory. Once registered, that entity can display all business locations or types of trading that belong to that entity.  Entity information is not published nor made available to third parties.

Q. My business has several places of business.  Can I show them all on the mapping system?

A.  Yes you can show them on the mapping system any where in Australia. All for free.

Q.  What happens if my business changes its location?

A.   It’s very easy to change your business location. You can login and change the location of the dot on the mapping scheme by simply typing in the new address and the system does the rest. By the way those dots on the mapping system are called UGLiis. UGLii stands for Unique Geographic Listing (for) industry (on the) internet.

Q.  I own three companies. Can I register them all for free?

A.  Yes, you can register all the companies you own for free.

Q. What happens if my business changes its name?

A.  It’s very easy to change your business name. You can simply login and change the name. What you can’t change is the ABN – you can change everything else about your business very easily.

Q.  What is different from my UGLii to anyone else’s UGLii?

A.  Location and keywords are what distinguishes your UGLii from all others.

Q.  Where do my keywords come from for my UGLii?

A.  You create them.

Q.  How many keywords can I have for each UGLii?

A.  You can use up to 250 characters.

Q.  Is there anyone that can help me with the registration process?

A.  The registration process is quite simple. Our wizard program will take you through the 4-step process – just give it a try and see how easy it is.

Q.  How do I make changes to my business information?

A.  When you register you will be asked to enter a password you want to use to access your Control Panel in the PolicenSecurity/UGLii Find system. Your email address will become your username. Your Control Panel is your hub for managing your business information, adding keywords to your UGLii(s), buying UGLii Find System services if you want to and accessing other business services.  Keep your username and password handy so you can login at any time when you think of ways of improving your business discoverability.

Q.  Is there a limit to the number of times I change my details?

A.  No. You can log in at any time and as often as you want to change your information at no charge.  We encourage you to login often to make sure your keywords best describe the products or services you supply. We will send you a reminder to update your information.

Q.  How important are my keywords?

A.  Your keywords are vital to your business being discovered by the people most important to your business – searchers that are looking for your products or services. It is worth putting in some time thinking about the keywords your potential customers will use to search for products and services to describe your business. Here are a few handy tips:

. Think of the main lines of products or services you provide (you have 250 characters all up)

. Use plurals (some people will search for builder, some will search for builders)

. Use your trading name as a keyword

. Include the main brands you sell

. Be very careful not to use brands you are not entitled to use – apart from being illegal it is against our rules

Q.  What exactly is a keyword?

A.   A keyword can be any single word or any series of words (e.g. builder, plumber, gas plumber, drainage contractor)

Q.  If I want to show my website how do I do that?

A.  You can login and buy an UGLii Link from your dot on the map to your website. Searchers will be taken straight to your website when they click on your business listed in the search results or if they click on your dot (UGLii). An UGLii Link can be purchased as a 1-year subscription online using a credit card. As part of that subscription, you can also install our interactive map on your website to show where your business is. This is a simple process with full instructions provided from your Control Panel. You can install it on your website yourself – no skills required. Providing a fully interactive map on your website is handy for visitors to your website that have not come through the PolicenSecurity/UGLii Find system – such as visitors that discovered you through a search engine or know your domain name.

After you have purchased an UGLii Link, your business listing and UGLii changes to blue colour, this lets users know that more information is available about your business. Businesses with UGLii Links are listed first in alphabetical order, followed by businesses with verified and up-to-date information, and lastly by businesses that have not updated their information.

When you purchase an UGLii Link the number of characters that you have available for keywords increases from 250 to 5000. This means that you can be much more specific in your use of keywords – which means greater discoverability for your business.

Q. I run a  local government website. Can local governments and governments register in PolicenSecurity/UGLii Find?

A.  Yes, however, you are better off to register in www.GovMio.com.au which is an UGLii Find Partner site that is devoted to providing services to local governments.

Q.  What makes PolicenSecurity/UGLii Find different from other online directories?

A.  PolicenSecurity features true spatial searching and a host of other features. Importantly as a partner directory of the UGLii Find network, PolicenSecurity provides discovery for your business on over 65 directory websites across Australia. This means that businesses registering in PolicenSecurity/UGLii Find  will automatically appear in other online directories in the UGLii Find network (over 65 business related websites in Australia delivering over 8.5 million page impressions a month) using the same mapping system.
